The new license permits certain uses, such as personal use and development use, at no cost - but other uses authorized under prior Oracle Java.
- There are many alternatives to Java for Mac if you are looking to replace it. The most popular Mac alternative is Python, which is both free and Open Source. - If you run the Oracle Java standalone installer (.bin file), it will just extract the java directory from the archive. It will not create the environment variable JAVAHOME. It is best if you extract the java archive to a folder such as /usr/java. Next, find the folder where Firefox is installed. It will have a directory named plugins there.
Java releases updates regularly and whenever Java releases an update then you will be redirected to the Java update page. There you can download and install the latest version of Java.
But here the problem is even though the employers are updating the latest version of Java still they are not able to approve KYC with DSC.
Here the problem is not with the Java, it is with the browser which you are using. Java is a computer programming language needed to run some software programmes. So it is always better to install the latest version of Java.
Browsers Required For EPF DSC
If you are a Chrome user then you need to install a Google Chrome version less than 42, if you are a Mozilla Firefox user then you need to install version Firefox 48.
If you use other versions, then they don’t support Java and you will get the following errros.
“We have detected you are using Google Chrome and might be unable to use the Java plugin from this browser. Starting with Version 42 (released April 2015), Chrome has disabled the standard way in which browsers support plugins “
You can observe it in below images.
For Chrome Users
Suppose if you are using Google Chrome version 48 then I will find this message the same will happen in case of Firefox also.
If you are using the lower versions of Chrome or Firefox then you don’t see the above message, suppose if you are using Firefox version 48 then the Java update page will appear like this.
So if you are looking for which Java version is required for EPF digital signature then the answer is you always need to update the latest version of Java. At present Java has version 8 update 181, which was released on 17 July 2018.

Java Mozilla Firefox Mac
hello all (total newbie here)
we are running 10.6.5 mac and i have an issue.
for some reason, firefox does not 'see' that java is installed. safari does not seem to have this issue.
the simple workaround is to remove firefox and then reinstall it, and this does indeed fix the problem for a very short while, until a reboot.
i tried going into the FF add-ons and disabling/re-enabling the java-console add-on, but this didnt seem to fix it.
any ideas? i am ready to reinstall the OS to see if that fixes it.
thanks,
mark
